This carving is made in carving style- plastic, deep relief with aspiration to realism and naturalness in delivering anatomic details, clothes and frame. It's carved from one piece of walnut wood using only old-fashioned hand held bench chisels and small detail chisels and wood carving knives.

The carved icon tradition goes back to the early centuries of Christianity.
